Countries by Total Medals Count
This is a Geoscatter plot of the total medals count of each country. In this plot, the size of the bubble is the total medals count of the country, and the color categorizes the bubbles into continents.
- Insights:
- The US has the biggest bubble, meaning that it has the highest total medal count of the entire world
- The European countries (the red bubbles) have higher density of smaller visible bubbles, demonstrating that a lot of European countries has more than the global average amount of medals.
- China, Australia, and Brazil dominate the Olympic Medals pools of their respective regions.
Kenya and South Africa have the most medals among African countries.
Countries by Medal Count
This is a tree map of Total Medals count by countries. The order of layers goes like this 1. World → 2. Continents → 3. Countries, the size and the color of each country is dependent on their total Olympic medals counts.
Insights:
- The Europe has the most medals, and a few of its medals powerhouse are UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Sweden, all of them are first world countries.
- In North America, the US has the greatest number of medals in the world, yet other North American countries have a lot fewer medals.
